If you happen to spill liquid on your device or drop and fully submerge it, your machine needs to be taken apart as soon as possible. You should take this to a professional to perform as It will then need to be disconnected from the battery and properly cleaned.
If your machine has got any form of water damage to it, DO Not try to turn it on or charge it, especially if you are unsure. If you were to do this and there was water damage inside, you could end up short circuited the components inside the device and causing a lot more damage. Here are 3 things you should do immediately;
- If the phone isn’t already, turn it off.
- Remove the case and sim card tray as this could be trapping water.
- Wipe down the device to remove an excess water
Contrary to popular device rice or silica won’t fix the issue (the grains could even cause more damage if they get into the charge port) it needs to go straight to a professional to deal with the issue as the longer you leave it the more damage you could cause. Only leave it in rice or silica if the accident has happened late at night or when there is no availability straight away to visit a repair shop.
